Shopify fulfilment means connecting your store to a warehouse so that orders, inventory and tracking move between them automatically. Paid orders pull through to the warehouse without being exported; stock levels update as units are picked and flow back to the store; and when a parcel is despatched, the tracking number is written onto the Shopify order so the customer notification sends itself. The reason brands make the move is rarely that picking is difficult — it is that the founder is packing parcels at nine in the evening and the admin around it has quietly become a second job.
